Unusual revision methods

I love trying out new revision methods to find things that work best for me. These revision methods are ‘unusual’ in my opinion, some of you may already do a lot of these so I apologise if they are not new tips for you!! I don’t do all of these myself but after researching new techniques I might start trying some more of them! 1. Record yourself speaking a topic, listen to it, and try and then speak it from memory - you find yourself actively listening and remembering information, and talking it aloud is a form of active recall! Be sure to do this every few days to memorise something long term.

2. Put sticky notes/posters up in all different places! I have posters up on my wardrobes, but I just read online to put sticky notes in the bathroom! I suppose this would be effective as repeated reading of the same thing is sure to help it stay in your long term memory! 3. Teach someone else about a topic, ask them questions on it and then get them to ask you questions too! Anything that you haven’t explained properly will crop up and it will encourage you to fully understand the topic yourself in order to explain it to someone else. 4. Revise whilst exercising - I haven’t tried this but I just read on the student room that someone juggles whilst revising, not sure if I could do that one! But whilst exercising you aren’t actively thinking of anything, so reading posters on the wall or having a revision video/audio on in the background could be useful ! The more you revise something, the easier it becomes to revise without having to focus as much, so maybe a topic that you find easier would be good to review during exercising.

5. Leave flashcards on each step up the stairs - I think I got this from @jackbenedwards a long time ago, but answer each question/read each flashcard before you can move up the stairs, the repetitive nature of this would make it effective, and once you have learnt one set, replace them for another set! I hope some of these helped you, especially for those people who are yet to find a revision method that works properly for them! Whether you are a visual, auditory or kinesthetic learner, there will be methods that will be suited to you, even if you haven't found it yet x
